California All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (CalATBI) is a voucher-based, DNA-powered effort to finally discover all of California biodiversity.
CalATBI brings together hundreds of scientists in scores of institutions to coordinate across five programs: insecta, funga, soil biodiversity, intertidal biodiversity, and environmental DNA (eDNA).
Cataloging California’s biodiversity
It sustains our food systems, cleans our water and air, provides resilience against environmental threats like fires and erosion, and offers valuable resources for medical discoveries. And it’s vanishing at an unprecedented rate. To safeguard this biodiversity, we must first discover and catalogue it.
